New-Build Homes with Style and Class in the UK

The Guardian recently released a captivating gallery showcasing some of the most stylish new-build homes in the UK. From an airy studio in Scotland's capital city to a stunning development in Dorset that takes inspiration from Georgian architecture, this photo gallery showcases the best in contemporary UK housing.

First on the tour is Charlestown, Cornwall. Nestled down a private road, behind a traditional stone wall, the development known as the Nest houses an exquisite range of detached homes. Priced at £1.1m, these homes are masterpieces of Cornish stone, featuring steel window frames, zinc cladding, and grass-covered roofs, reminiscent of upmarket beach huts. The development name, the Nest, gives a nod to the crow's nest of the tall ships once docked in Charlestown harbour, a popular filming location for the hit series Poldark.

The tour then leads to Edinburgh, where the New Eidyn development in the heart of the St James Quarter shopping centre offers 152 homes perched above a bustling hub of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities. Priced at £390,000, these homes range from studios to four-bedroom flats and even include membership to the gym in Scotland's first W Hotel.

Next stop, Poundbury, Dorset. This urban extension of the county town of Dorchester is home to Halstock Place. Its design challenges the conventional post-war model of suburbia, opting instead to complement the historic local housing stock. Priced at £445,000, there's a special offer for prospective homeowners: the stamp duty of up to £9,750 will be paid until the end of this month.

The journey proceeds to Mill Hill, London, where The Claves development by housebuilder EcoWorld offers 177 homes ranging from two-bedroom apartments to semi-detached mews houses. These homes, starting at £650,000, boast rewilded gardens and green roofs, and offer a wealth of communal amenities.

Finally, we land in St John's Wood, London, where a boutique scheme offers a two-bedroom flat just up the Finchley Road from Lord's Cricket Ground, close to Primrose Hill. Priced at £1.650m, this new development presents a reinterpretation of an Edwardian mansion block with its brick and glass facade and floor-to-ceiling bay windows.

Each of these stylish new-build homes offers its own unique allure, capturing the essence of contemporary architecture while blending seamlessly into their respective landscapes.
